To manage the efficient running of the forum we hold a limited amount of personal data on our members, this document explains what we hold, why we hold it and what it is used for.
Personal data you need to supply to join Aberdeen cycle forum
If you want to join Aberdeen Cycle Forum (ACF) you need to supply your name and email address. It also helps us to know if you live in Aberdeen or elsewhere and to have the first part of your postcode, but providing this is optional.
How we use your personal data
Your personal information will be used solely for the purposes of communicating with you relating to your membership of ACF. This includes receiving ACF updates and other communications by email on the address you provided. Communicating with you is an integral part of your membership, by joining ACF you are explicitly agreeing to receive this communication.
Who has access to your personal data and where is it stored
We use an external provider as a means of communicating with you, and to store and maintain your personal data. The provider used is Award Force. Your information will not be sold, leased, rented, given or otherwise shared with any other third party unless we are required to do so by law. If we change to a different data service provider, we will let you know. Elected officers of ACF have access to the membership dataset for limited purposes associated with running of ACF.
Why Award Force? Award Force is primarily an awards/competitions platform, but also has all the functionality we need to hold our data and use it to communicate with members. We’ve used this platform over a number of years to manage our Best in Cycling Awards and other competitions we have run such as our ‘No idling’ campaign for schools. It is cost effective for us to use this service, compared with other providers.
Your rights to your data
When you join ACF you will be required to create a password. You can view or amend your data, or unsubscribe, directly via the Award Force platform.
